This application allows you to open an MPEG, AVI or WMV movie and convert a section of it to an animated GIF. General usage consists of opening a movie ("File" -> "Open"), seeking to the position in the movie where you want to start the animation sequence (use the track bar at the bottom), setting start and end points (buttons on sides of trackbar) and then exporting ("Export" -> "Export to animated GIF...").

Windows XP users will need the .NET framework 2.0 and the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
April 27, 2010: There is a version available specifically for Windows 7. This version supports unprotected MP4 files and can serve as an MP4 to animated GIF converter. It also supports, AVI, MPEG and unprotected WMV files. Windows 7 is required to run this version. Use the September 2009 version below if you do not have Windows 7.

September 12, 2009: This version supports WMV files only if they are not DRM protected. Most AVI and MPEG movies should work fine provided you have the proper codecs.
